If you’re anything like us, you are probably feeling a bit helpless right about now. And as much as we love to celebrate and are doing our best to keep the party going both inside and outside of our own world, the truth is, sometimes all you want to do is find a way to do something.
For those of you not familiar, we created our sister company, The Good Beginning, an online wedding registry to support in who want to start their marriage off with the ritual of giving. When we began, we dreamed that couples would use their marriage as an opportunity to help puppies get homes, everyone to have equal rights and maybe even help build a new home or two. We had no idea that it would become such a powerful tool to use in times of crisis. From the Flint Water Crisis to Environmental responses, our couples alongside of their guests, have rallied to make a differences in initiatives across the globe. And now is no different. Today couple’s are using The Good Beginning even more to do what they can in this time of global uncertainty. Many couples are contacting their guests and asking for donations (aka wedding gifts) in advance to support the needs of today and we are so thrilled to see so many people come together to make a difference right now.
Right now on The Good Beginning, we have waived our administrative fees so we support you in doing your part. And in case you’re at a loss of where to begin, we’ve also identified several organizations in need of extra support right now. You can find that list here. If so inclined, don’t hesitate to send and email out to your guests saying something along the lines of “Hey, you know that wedding gift you were going to get us eventually? Well, we’d love for you to support this instead.”
And if you’re planning your wedding right now, we know it’s a stressful time. And while it might not be the exact beginning you had hoped for, we would love to be here to make it the best beginning it can possibly be given the circumstances.
